- Summary
- We are observing an infant trying to process all the new experiences facing him. Using his senses, he goes through perception, exploration, examination, manipulation, problem solving, and analyzing new objects, practicing newly gained skills. Remembering previous experiences, he learns to put information to use. He is learning how to learn, becomes increasingly adapted to his environment.
- As Jean Piaget (1896-1980), a Swiss psychologist known for his research in developmental psychology, taught, cognitive development proceeds in four genetically determined stages that always follow the same sequential order.
