  • Collection of 67 fables 38 of which belong to the "Romulus"collection while 29 are almost verbal paraphrases of the corresponding fables of Phaedrus. The compiler is known as the "Anonymous Nilanti" from the first edition of the collection published by J. F. Nilant (Fabulae antiquae ex Phaedro fere servatis eius verbis desumptae et soluta oratione expositae ... Lugduai Bat., 1709) The original manuscript was written in part by the presbyter Ademar of Chabanais in the monastery St. Martial near Limoges in France (ca. 1025) Fol. 195vo-203vo contain the fables in the midst of illustrations the origin of which may be traced back to the beginning of the 3d century C.E. Fol. 203vo to 205vo contain arithmetical problems of partly ancient origin which in other manuscripts are entitled "Propositiones arithmeticae", "Propositiones ad acuendos juvenes", and have been published in the older editions of Beda, and of Alcuinus, as works of either of these authors. cf. Introduction, and the editor's Der latein. Aesop des Romulus, Heidelberg, 1910.
