- Summary
- Based on actual events, Debajo del mundo is the story of a Polish working family whose relative calm is abruptly shattered by the invasion of the German army. In an act of desperation, they defy German orders for all Jews to report and opt for the only alternative--to move underground. For the next two years, their lives become a nightmare of crude underground apartments and inhuman living conditions, always menaced by German soldiers, Polish collaborators, and illness. Yet throughout, they maintain a flickering hope.
