- Summary
- The monitoring of cerebrospinal fluid as an aid to diagnosis in many neurological, psychiatric and systemic disorders remains a potentially valuable, but largely untapped, resource. Lumbar puncture was first introduced as a major diagnostic tool 100 years ago. However, the routine clinical analysis of CSF has lagged far behind that of other body fluids, as only the basic parameters are measured routinely.
- This book aims to redress this balance by focusing in particular on recently identified CSF markers which exhibit diagnostic potential. Cerebrospinal Fluid in Neurology and Psychiatry will be of practical value to all clinicians, especially neurologists and psychiatrists.
