Summary

Diagnostic ultrasound has been in wide use in gynaecology, vascular surgery and urology, and the arrival of laparoscopic surgery now shows the general surgeon that intraoperative and laparoscopic ultrasonography have much to offer in the investigation and treatment of intra-abdominal disease.
