- Summary
- As a result, this book may assist the physician to differentiate and recognize the viability of the myocardium in ischemic heart which will be essential in choosing the therapeutic modalities. This book is recommended to all cardiologists, radiologists, nuclear medicine physicians, physicists, and basic scientists who want to be kept up-to-date in this exciting field.
- In this joint symposium, advances in imaging techniques in ischemic heart disease have been chosen as the central topic. All major imaging techniques in cardiology have been addressed from echocardiography, cardiovascular nuclear medicine, magnetic resonance, and contrast angiography techniques. All the chapters have been written with not only the appropriate technique but also the specific disease in mind. As the developments in cardiac imaging have had an explosive growth over the past 10 years, the diagnosis of ischemic heart disease have become more accurate with inherent improvement in patient management.
- The present book is based on a joint symposium organized by the Departments of Cardiology, Diagnostic Radiology and Nuclear Medicine of the University Hospital Leiden, and the Cleveland Clinical International Center. Both centers have a longstanding reputation in the various aspects of cardiac imaging techniques and in clinical applications. Faculty from each of the two centers have written overviews in those areas in which they have extensive experience.
