Summary
  • "Demonstrating that Congress's proscription of a market for organ procurement has been an abject failure, David L. Kaserman and A. H. Barnett propose a market system with procurement firms making for-fee arrangements with living donors for extraction after death or with relatives of deceased potential donors. The authors show that such a market system would create supplies that would over time meet demands.
  • The proposed system would also save thousands of lives at relatively low costs to both the transplant recipients and insurance companies."--BOOK JACKET.
