Summary
After conquering Egypt, Antony sends for Cleopatra, who has been told by an oracle that she will have great power over Antony. Antony travels to Alexandria to see Cleopatra again, and becomes obsessed with her. Octavius, Antony's Roman wife, threatens the vengeance of Rome against Antony after he spurns her in Egypt. Charmian, a slave who has saved Antony's life by warning him about Cleopatra's scheming courtiers, is put to death by a jealous Cleopatra. The Roman Senate declares Antony a traitor, and when he is defeated in battle by Octavius, he commits suicide. Cleopatra tries unsuccessfully to entice Octavius, and kills herself. Octavius returns triumphant to Rome. Photographed in Rome and Egypt.
