Summary
"The pharmaceutical industry has undergone a technological paradigm shift that has allowed it to think differently about drug research and design. Today the innovator is no longer the individual firm, but rather a group of agents with both complementary as well as heterogeneous skills and assets that are connected with one another through an elaborate and often complex set of network arrangements. This book examines the strategic aspects of outsourcing in relation to the pharmaceutical firm. It provides a holistic view of the out sourcing process, starting with conceptualisation through to implementation and management. Although the book is based on a case study of the pharmaceutical industry, the general principles derived from the Strategic Sourcing Model are generic in nature and are applicable to instances of outsourcing in other industries as well. Taken within this context, the book is of interest to both academics and managers."--BOOK JACKET.
