Set in Spain in 1868 during the monarchy of Queen Anne, the beautiful Luisa Fernanda is courted by a wealthy landowner Vidal. But Luisa can't forget her first love, Javier, now a colonel in the Royal Hussars. She is devastated when Javier is courted by the duchess Carolina, and so agrees to marry Vidal.
