"This book chronicles the remarkable ascendancy of The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas over the past sixty years. Beginning with the occupation of about 30,000 square feet of temporary Army barracks located on Oak Lawn Avenue, Dallas in 1943, the medical center is now one of the premier academic biomedical institutions in the world. It is home to four Nobel Laureates and seventeen members of the U.S. National Academy of Sciences.
