Summary
Beginnings tells fourteen extraordinary and heart-warming life stories from Khayelitsha and Zwelihle, outside Hermanus. Author Unathi Loos and her photographer husband Ben Loos produced Beginnings to "show the positive side of township life" and to demonstrate "what can be achieved with just a little guidance and support." Loos found her stories from the thousands of people who have been helped by the Learn to Earn organisation, which promises "a hand up - not a hand out", and focuses on providing the essential workplace, life and business skills that enable people to find a sustainable place in the economy.
