- Summary
- Abbado's Cenerentola is set in a modern, realistic time. Rossini and librettist Jacopo Ferretti had gone a long way from Perrault's fairy tale. In the rather empty, bare stage the few scenographic elements strike the attention: the colorful costumes, the two giant chandeliers, the 1970's kitchen. The singers are young, talented, and have very good acting skills. Evelino Pido conducts with a light, energetic touch that well suits the entire production.
