Analyzes the Solidarity movement against the background of Polish history since World War II, and in relation to the "Jewish question". Antisemitism is not part of Solidarity's policy, although many anti-Jewish stereotypes persist in Polish society. Touches on the antisemitic campaign of 1968 and the Church's attitude towards the Jews. Denies the contention that antisemitism was a unifying factor for the Polish people in the 19th and 20th centuries: in fact, it was a divisive force.
