- Summary
- A study written during World War II by Ringelblum, historian and archivist of the Warsaw ghetto who was killed by the Germans in 1944, published here for the first time in Polish. Surveys Polish-Jewish relations before 1939 - the antisemitic activities of right-wing parties and organizations, especially in the universities. At the outbreak of war, the fact that Poles and Jews fought side by side against the German attack tended to reduce antisemitism. However, after the installation of the Germans in Warsaw, antisemitism increased. Describes life in the ghetto, ties with Aryan parts of the town, and the conditions of Jews living outside the ghetto. Mentions both Poles who informed on Jews and cases of rescue by Poles.
