Summary
In 1836 former Taranaki Māori cheif, Te Puoho and his Ngati Tama war party left Golden Bay in Nelson and traveled overland to raid the Southern Kai Tahu villages of Foveaux Strait, purported to be one of the last acts of Māori skirmishing and warfare in the South Island, it also represents the deepest incursion of Te Rauparaha's musket warfare.
