Summary
  • "To call for theological change on the basis of women's experience seems to require a view of women's experience which, while not necessarily denying all innate differences between men and women, focuses more clearly on the cultural factors shaping feminine personality and draws attention to the limits of current definitions of femininity. It is the purpose of this book to develop such a view of women's experience in order to carry forward the analysis begun by Valerie Saiving. A definition of women's experience as the interrelation between cultural expectations and their internalization will be used to examine in some detail the extent to which and the ways in which Reinhold Niebuhr and Paul Tillich take account of women's experience in formulating their doctrines of sin and grace."--Introduction, pages 2-3
