- Alice "Theodosia" Shaw Chipman (b. 1832) was a descendant of Moses Shaw who was born in Barnstable Mass. in 1727, and migrated to Granville, N. S. about 1760. Alice married Rev. Alfred Chipman in 1862. She and his mother, Eliza Ann Chipman, influenced the role of women in the field of education in Canada. She and Alfred had two sons, Fred and Alvah. Descendants lived chiefly in Canada.
