Summary
This is a valuable collection of a variety of documents and interviews on SWAPO and the liberation struggle, put together with the goal of conveying some of the perspectives and experiences of people who have dedicated their lives to the fight for an independent Namibia. The book opens with extended interviews with the president of SWAPO, the Political Commissar of the People's Liberation Army of Namibia (PLAN), and two women militants, followed by a first-hand account of the beginning of the strike in 1971 by Hinanjane Shafodino Nehova. The final section reproduces several important SWAPO documents. Much of the material appeared originally in LSM News, nos. 11-12 (October) 1976. (Eriksen/Moorsom 1989).
