For Denis Goulet, people remain people, and a primary challenge to those who work for world development must be "to restore the links between economic science and moral philosophy. For the development problem resurrects, in a new mode, the most ancient ethical questions: what is the good life, what is the just society?" These are the issues Denis Goulet confronts in A New World Order, a provocative and controversial approach to the questions most developmentalists fail to ask or despair of answering.
