Summary
An autobiographical account of a Hanau physician whose mother was Jewish. Relates difficulties in finishing his medical studies in Germany during the 1930s due to his Jewish origins. After his graduation as a physician, many medical institutions and hospitals refused to employ him. Describes the events of the "Kristallnacht" pogrom and the imprisonment of thousands of Jews, the arrest of his mother by the Gestapo in 1943, and her deportation to Theresienstadt in February 1945. Claims that most of the Nazi physicians continued to function after the war in their respected positions and they retained antisemitic views.
