Summary
Proposes a new interpretation of those passages in Paul's Epistles which have been taken to mean that the New Covenant abrogates the Old. This doctrine has served as justification for the Church's persecution of the Jews. Asserts, in agreement with Pope John Paul II, that the Old Covenant was never abrogated, and demonstrates that Paul's utterances are compatible with the view that the Jews, too, are in a repeatedly renewed (although pre-messianic) covenant with God.
