- Traces the history of the Frank family, owners of a large store in Weidenau, near Siegen (Westphalia), and of the Jewish communities of these two towns. Describes their good relations with non-Jewish neighbors, but also the burning of the Siegen synagogue and arrest of Jewish men on "Kristallnacht", emigration of younger Jews, empoverishment and increasing restrictions, and finally deportation.
