Summary
East, West, North, South provides an introduction to international politics since 1945. The book deals with East-West relations on a broad scale, with special emphasis on the United States and the Soviet Union. The arms race and relations among the western countries and within the communist camp are discussed in some detail, as is the division between North and South. Special care has been taken to present lasting trends and an analysis of motivating factors and causal relationships, in order to shed light on and create an appreciation for the complicated mechanisms that shape history. This book addresses not only those who are teaching and studying at universities and colleges; it is also an engaging introduction for the general reader who has an interest in history and politics.
