- Summary
- This text examines the domestic circumstances and responsibilities of women caring for children in Britain in the context of social trends that are making poverty and hardship increasingly common experiences for mothers. The book is set against the social and intellectual trends of the last decade and the major shifts in feminist research which have occurred in theis period. In particular, Hilary Graham moves away from looking as "women" as a homogenous group towards perspectives which recognize how social division of class, race, disability and sexuality, as well as those of gender, mediate the experiences of caring for health in families.
