Summary
This book traces the origins of Black Consciousness in South Africa between the late sixties and the early seventies. It locates the political rationale for its emergence in white racism - particularly in its extreme form - apartheid. Blacks had only limited avenues to express their hopes, vent their feelings and act out their beliefs through the separatist, segregated structures created by this virulent strain of white racism.
