- Summary
- This book traces the origins of Black Consciousness in South Africa between the late sixties and the early seventies. It locates the political rationale for its emergence in white racism - particularly in its extreme form - apartheid. Blacks had only limited avenues to express their hopes, vent their feelings and act out their beliefs through the separatist, segregated structures created by this virulent strain of white racism.
