"Henry Moore, who died in 1986, had a lifelong association with Paris that began with a visit in 1922 while he was still a student at the Royal College of Art in London, and culminated in the sculpture exhibit installed in the Bagatelle gardens in 1922, seventy years later. Over the years there have been many exhibitions of Moore's work in cities and museums around the world, attesting to the universal appeal of his sculpture. The installation in the Bagatelle gardens, though, was unique: a magical combination of the artist's monumental works set down in a park within one of the greatest cities of the arts. Moore like to see his work in nature, placing it in landscape around his home in the English countryside.
