Summary
The appraisal of visual art is traditionally regarded as being the province of the artist, the art historian and the art critic. But visual art, as a manifestation of human behaviour, is intimately linked with the evolution of man; it must be seen as both an aspect of human ethnology and a facet of the cultural needs of a community. The essays in this book explore and demonstrate that art and the artists are open to meaningful scientific study and assessment on a non-aesthetic level. Themes include perception, trompe l'oeil, blindness and defective vision, psychoogy, art education and morals.
