- Summary
- A collection of SS reports and directives, and testimony at war crimes trials on the Holocaust, chiefly in Poland (the Lublin area, Lodz, Warsaw, Galicia), but also in Austria, Slovakia, Greece, and Western Europe. These deal wholly or partly with the financial profit arising from the property taken from the deported or murdered Jews and from their forced labor. Includes detailed lists of usable goods, from money and precious metals to rags and women's hair: amounts, value, utilization; and calculations of the value of Jewish labor. A detailed analysis in February 1944 of the value of work performed in the Lodz ghetto concludes that it is uneconomical (the ghetto was liquidated in June). Includes descriptions of manhunts, the razing of ghettos and hiding-places, and Krueger's report on the battle of the Warsaw ghetto; all these also contain references to the goods seized as a result of the "action" (in the case of the Warsaw ghetto, bricks and other building materials).
