James Forbes (ca.1685-ca.1783), of Scottish lineage, immigrated from Ireland to Rutland, Massachusetts. Direct descendant William Forbes (1778-1833) married Submit Phillips, and about 1803 they immigrated from Massachusetts to Montreal, Québec. Includes ancestry in New England, Ireland and Scotland. Includes descendants, chiefly in Canada, with some in the United States.
