"Vigilantism is one of the greatest menaces facing the American people today, and the most present danger to the principles of liberty enunciated in our Declaration of Independence and our Constitution. Seduced by fair false words, by the misuse of the American flag and patriotic sentiments behind which the economic royalists of our day hide their insensate greed and lust for power, large numbers of American people, and especially those whose background is economically a little higher than a worker's, are being lured into the net of vigilantism.
