- Summary
- "This report is based on papers presented at a Conference organised by the Roman Research Trust at the Museum of London in November 1991. Its aim is to highlight some of the recent discoveries and current thinking on Roman architecture in Britain. Both military and civilian architecture, from the early to late periods, are covered, with examples from sites across the country. Current excavations are revealing a grandeur and sophistication of architectural form and decoration. Of particular interest are studies of well-preserved collapsed masonry which provide a new insight into the design and elaboration of two-storeyed buildings."--BOOK JACKET.
