Summary

Presents documentation in memory of Aron Menczer, who was the leader of the Youth Aliyah organization in Vienna during the Nazi regime and was responsible for the rescue of many Jewish children. Between May 1938-February 1940, 2,200 children were able to emigrate to Palestine. When emigration was no longer possible, Youth Aliyah and the Zionist youth movements tried to give the young people a sense of security. Although Menczer could have remained in Palestine when he escorted a group of children there in February 1939, he chose to return to Austria and continue his work. In May 1941 he was sent, together with a group of Youth Aliyah members, to the Doppl labor camp; in September 1942 he was deported to Auschwitz, where he was killed.
