Between 1940 and 1943 the Luftwaffe was kept busy in Malta, Greece, Yugoslavia, Crete, Italy, Sicily, Egypt, Libya, and Tunisia. Although it achieved a great deal of success, it was hampered by the constant demand for men and machines elsewhere. Photos taken by pilots and ground crew illustrate the German and Italian aircraft used and developed in this theatre as well as the people involved, giving a fascinating perspective on the Luftwaffe at war.
