Summary
This is the story of a Charitable Trust which was founded 300 years ago to benefit the poor of the parish of Hampstead. The first assets were six swampy acres of Hampstead Heath, including a mineral well, which begat a spa, which then spawned a valuable residential estate. The Trust is now able to hand over half a million pounds a year to the poor of Hampstead.
