"Over a period of eight years, from 1988 to 1995, Ferit Kuyas focused his creative camera on Swiss industry. These were the years when recession in Switzerland led to "deindustrialization" on an unprecedented scale: no less than 400 square kilometres of industrial plant and offices became redundant. Familiar workaday scenes were suddenly frozen; factories were shut down, demolished or reutilized. Ferit Kuyas has vividly recorded these everyday scenes for posterity - making optimal use of natural lighting effects with infinite patience. Using large formal film and heavy equipment, he has invested innumerable hours in photographing, developing and enlarging.
