- Summary
- Presents speeches delivered at an evening organized in Toulon on 22 November 1996 in honor of Marek Halter, the French-Jewish writer. The evening was a response to the refusal of the mayor of Toulon, Jean-Marie Le Chevallier, of the Front National, to honor Halter during the Book Fair because of the "cosmopolitism" in his writings and lack of "French" values. The participants in this evening were important personalities in France's cultural life, including Minister of Culture Philippe Douste-Blazy.
