- Summary
- The focus of this monograph is what he sees as Russia's current identity crisis. In the introduction the author explains that the resolution of this crisis of national self-consciousness is closely linked with Russia's need to define a place for itself in the new post-Cold War world. He insists that the new Russia differs fundamentally from the Soviet Union or the old Russian Empire. It has new borders, a new culture, and a new spiritual-ideological framework. However, the Russian people have still not resolved a number of central questions, such as what type of political and economic system the country should adopt and what type of relationship they want with outside world.
