- "The book focuses on the typology of the dwellings of native Siberian peoples. It includes the historiography of the issue as well as brief description of all (39) the peoples of Siberia. The new (in comparison with the approach offered in the 'History-ethnographical Atlas of Siberia', Moscow-Leningrad, 1961) system of classification, based on the concrete criteria has been used. They are following: 1. Construction of the dwelling, (on the base of the poles; horizontal logs connected with the special method in the corners etc.). 2. Technique of the dwelling construction (from the sloping and vertical poles, by the way of cutting the logs, boards, poles with special apertures etc.). 3. Form of the dwelling of its roof (conical, pyramidal, rectangular with different form of the roof etc.). 4. Form of the dwelling base (circle, square, polygon). Additional criteria: 5. Distinguishing of the roofs and walls. 6. The level of the dwelling with regard to the ground (ground, underground, up-ground). Reffering to these criteria, all the dwellings of Native Siberian peoples discribed by the authors are divided to the classes, subclasses, groups, divisions, types and their variants. At the end, the issues of dwelling types genesis is examined"--P. 284.
