Examines gender relations and the position of women in relation to nationalism and culture in Palestine and describes the activities of the Palestinian Model Parliament for Women and Legislation, established in 1997 with the aim of proposing laws and legislation based on equality and human rights. Analyses the gendered policies and practices of the Palestinian Authority and the Islamists and investigates the counter-campaign launched against the Model Parliament. Focuses on attempts to correct the discriminatory nature of the Family Law.
