Summary
This document relates the events that happened at the Coastal Zone Canada '98 conference. It provides an excellent synopsis of Canadian and international community efforts to integrate ecological, social, and economic factors: to identify the need for the use of science at the community level, and to empower local communities at the twitlight of the 20th century. The first part contents presentations and the second part is entitled "Coastal Challenge Toolkit" and includes 57 relevant tools or tool frameworks under six categories: 1) training and capacity building; 2) communication and awareness; 3) empowerment; 4) CZM framework and process; 5) knowledge; 6) policy and planning.
