Summary
Historical and genealogical information about the Welder family of Texas. Don Felipe Roque de la Portilla was born in Spain, the son of Domingo de la Portilla and Antonia Colmenero. He emigrated to Mexico. He married Doña María Ignacia de la Garza in 1799. Their children included José Calixto, Juan Crisostoso, María de los Dolores Sebastiana and José Francisco de la Portilla. James Power was born in Ireland in 1788. He emigrated to America in 1809. James moved to Mexico in 1822. The La Portilla family and James Power were both living in Texas by 1829, where James married their daughter Dolores in 1832. Their children were James, Dolores.
