- Summary
- In this project for the Dutch Ministry of Education, Culture and Science (OCenW), the Dutch Railways Group and the other public transport companies in The Netherlands, RAND Europe and NEA have measured the use of train and bus/tram/metro by students who own a Public Transport Pass. These passes were paid for by the Ministry of OCenW and give students the right to use public transport for free or at reduced fees during certain parts of the week (depending on the type of pass: for the weekend or the working week). A total of 9,279 students (with either a pass for the weekend or the working week) were interviewed. The questionnaire included a trip diary in which the students filled in all their public transport trips during four consecutive days. Furthermore, questions were asked about the quality of public transport and attributes of the students and special attention was paid to travel between home and school by public transport. The interview data were processed, expanded and analysed. This volume describes the methodology and the results in detail.
