- Summary
- Calaferte had recently been awarded the Grand Prix National des Lettres when he sat down with Jean-Pierre Pauty, a friend and movie director, to discuss his life and work and the intimate intertwining of the two. The Inner Adventure brings these interviews to an English-speaking audience for the first time, revealing the creative process and philosophies of a celebrated writer, one whose work often challenged others because of his brutal honesty and his claim that only experience can be the basis of creativity, thought, and knowledge. Calaferte addresses Good and Evil, the oppressive nature of institutions, prayer, sex, and spiritual birth. He confirms his belief in the sacred but also his dedication to searching within himself rather than in the dogmas of established churches, claiming true faith is a battle inside our selves, an examination of our consciences.
