Summary
Based on interviews with Klein, a Jew born in Paris in 1920, traces the development of his religious views. Pp. 37-62 recount his experiences during the Holocaust. He fled with his family to Vichy in 1940 and joined the Jewish resistance in 1942, soon becoming one of its leaders. In charge of the Eclaireurs Israelites de France in Marseille and later in Grenoble, Klein helped save the lives of many young Jewish refugees. An ex-president of the Conseil Représentatif des Israélites de France, Klein also presents his views on the current wave of antisemitism in France.
