Discusses Jewish life in Gelsenkirchen during the Nazi period. Pp. 68-218 contain 27 biographies, memoirs, and interviews with survivors of the Holocaust, former residents of Gelsenkirchen. Some of these survivors emigrated as young children with their parents, others escaped in the last moment, some lost their families and had to manage on their own, some survived concentration camps, and others went into hiding. Includes documents and photographs.
