Summary

Contains letters written by Apfelbaum in 1941-42 at the internment camp in Pithiviers and sent to his wife and daughter in Paris. Originally from Poland, he was arrested when he went to register in May 1941, as required by the "billet vert" sent to 4,000 immigrant Jews. He was one of 1,700 Jews interned for over a year at the camp before they were handed over to the Germans. In June 1942 Apfelbaum was deported to Auschwitz and killed.
