- Summary
- "Trevor Bell was one of the most successful younger generation painters to arrive in St. Ives in the 1950s, attracted by the presence of the 'Middle Generation Moderns' such as Peter Lanyon, Bryan Wynter, Patrick Heron and Terry Frost. He is known for his shaped canvases inspired by the space and atmosphere of the Cornish landscape enveloped by the surrounding ocean, a topic which has energized Bell's approach to painting since the early 1960s." "This publication accompanies an important exhibition at Tate St. Ives, curated by Susan Daniel-McElroy. The book highlights works from the 1960s and 1970s made in both the UK and America together with five newly commissioned paintings: Passage - The Quiet Five 2004."--BOOK JACKET.
