- En ne définissant ni la personne ni l'embryon, le législateur a, en 1994, ouvert la voie à la controverse. Pourtant, son objectif semble avoir été de protéger l'embryon humain devenu accessible car détaché du corps de la femme, contre toute atteinte à son intégrité, en posant un interdit : celui de l'expérimentation. La réalité est moins simple. Face aux Etats-Unis, où l'industrie privée ne se considère liée par aucun interdit moral, l'Europe est-elle condamnée à payer le prix de sa division dans un domaine qui relève de l'éthique mais qui comporte également d'importants enjeux scientifiques et économiques ?
