- Summary
- "The Kunsthalle Nürnberg is now showing a selection of around 120 drawings as well as films and installations from the last 30 years, and will thus be offering the first survey in Germany of this artist's oeuvre, which has only been presented in examples to date. In her films, Anne-Mie Van Kerckhoven combines philosophical concepts with scientific terminologies, alchemistic processes with ideas about the artistic avant-garde, and art-historical references with her own experiences as a woman and an artist. Her drawings are often markedly autobiographical. They reflect AMVK's investigation into the world surrounding her and appear like a visual diary. There is an explicit erotic tension in other drawings, the motifs of which are sometimes adopted from pornographic magazines"--Kunsthalle Nürnberg website.
